The Collected Look. A Few More ORC Details.

So I really try not to think about getting "older" ... I think the saying is that 50 is the new 30?  Well, then I am a well-lived Thirty-Something!!

One of the advantages is having lived long enough to actually have amassed some furniture, accessories, art that I love.  When Don and I downsized last year, those of you that are familiar with our #ProjectDownSize, know that I had a POD in my driveway for about 8 months.  There were pieces I just didn't have a place for yet, but knew I wasn't ready to ditch everything.

The timing of the POD worked out well for Erin.  She and a friend found an apartment in Boston and lucky girls really didn't have to buy anything.  I love that.

Don't laugh, it was a grieving of sorts when I had to rid myself of the POD.  I have always preached to my kids, my clients, anyone that will listen.  Buy things that make your heart sing ... not just something to fill a space.  Now I know you have to buy the necessities to get started.  But make them special.

Perhaps you like the line ...

Like these two vintage armoires I purchased from the Parker Kennedy Boys via Instagram before we moved ... I knew they would be perfect for our new Master Bedroom.

The curve of the arm ...

Like this chair that has been with me for a long time and went through this transformation.  I have moved this chair in and out of rooms ... it has now found a perfect place to sit!

The mix of wood and brass ...

Like this vintage Ethan Allen Coffee Table that I grew up with in our Formal Living Room.  I knew I never wanted a formal living room, but something about the piece I loved and now 50 something years later it graces our Master.

Those of you just beginning your journey, be thoughtful in your purchases.  We all want the Collected Look immediately ... start building the foundation now and you'll be surprised when your my age how all the pieces speak to you and remind you of a journey in your life!

By the way, I am still collecting (Don doesn't understand this!)  ... despite #ProjectDownSize there is still room for a little more fun!

Happy Monday friends!
