A Client's Desire ...

What you say when your client tells you she wants white leather sofas and sequined window treatments?  Okay, well, it wasn’t quite like that, but that is what I heard!

While I might have a β€œlook” that I use in my own home, I work hard to help my clients realize their look.  To bring their thoughts, their desires together so they can actually live their dream!

What is also fun about this is that it pushes me out of β€œme”!  Seriously, my sweet client told me she wanted these things and I didn’t know what to say.  I had the opportunity to work with her on her study and I found a wonderful friend in her.  So … I felt we were  close enough, that I did say a few things.  And then we laughed, and she was serious.  She is my client, after all!

So here’s what we did ...

She shared a valuable lesson with me.  She told me that I was looking at her in her casual β€œmom” clothes taking care of all her children, running around keeping the house in order for her family.  But if I really β€œsaw” her, I would see that β€œinside” she was full of glamour.  And she is  β€¦ inside and out … and her home reflects that … and guess what ?

It is all livable.  Her children can sit on these sofas in all their β€œpearlescent” leather and eat their snacks and watch their shows without a care.  And she can look up at her sequin cornices and feel her life sparkle while normal life goes on.

It’s a wonderful treat to see this as so many of us live in a β€œthrow away” society.  She is teaching her children to live with beauty and a dream.  It’s a way of life for her.  And them.

Interiors mimic life … full of texture, pattern and color … I love to help my clients find theirs.

Tamar has three beautiful children,  one of whom was born with special needs.  She had her first book published last year, Left.  She wrote the novel to explore the possibility that you can only become the person you are supposed to be once you truly embrace the person you already are.  I encourage you to read this if anyone in your life has special needs.  Or, if you just want to read a beautiful story written by an exceptionally beautiful woman.
