Week Two. ORC Spring 2017.

Thank you for coming back!  Yes, this is Week Two of the #oneroomchallenge #orclinkup and I am in the midst of transforming our dining room.  From blah to extraordinary with everything I already have.  Except the Wallpaper. EEEK!  Oh Yes, in just six weeks!  Thanks to Linda of Calling It Home, there are room transformations taking place across the globe right now!

Let's break the Board Down:

My Jump Off ... or Jump Up and Down! starting point is this FABULOUS wallpaper by RootCellarDesigns.

This has been the biggest restraint ever.  To virtually transform our home into our vibe with nothing but paint.  I will continue to update you on the entire project.  But the Dining Room took a front seat so that I could have the place looking a little more spiffy for Easter!  And a girl just needs some wallpaper sometimes.  Just a Wall.  It just takes a Wall. Okay, not THAT wall!!!

I realize this weekend is Easter and I am far from ready, but I will show my family the mood boards.  And while we are eating my Mother In Law's addictive deviled eggs they will be able to truly see my vision!!

Farm Table - buy something you love.  This table has been in our dining room, our kitchen, the potting shed ... and back to the Dining Room!

Mirrored console.  Back when I wanted a little more Glam in my life.  This sparkler continues to make me happy.  But it needs new hardware.  One of the pulls broke, so I will be replacing those.

The "Winners" ... the Aidan Gray Chairs and chandelier!  I had my luckiest "win" moment two years ago and won these at HighPoint Market!

Heron Art.  I love this piece!  A fun find at an Estate Sale.

Garden Urn and Greenery.  NOT decided on wholly.  But I like the pop of green and iron in the space.  And I have no current yard to place them in ... so bringing the feel inside is terrifically appealing.

Zebra Print Cowhide:  I like it and own it.  Should it stay or should it go now? Stay tuned!

Yes, Black Sails  is  still on my mind as I try to make #KMIProjectRental feel like home.  Bringing in the rustic elements and shiny moments of our past to create something fun and fresh for our new adventure.

Happy Thanksgiving my sweet friends!  I hope you are safe and warm and feeling wrapped in love this wonderful day.  I find today the perfect opportunity to say how thankful I am for all of my clients who let me live my dream every day.  And the reality of what design is truly about.  Bringing happiness Home.

An old (not in age!) client calls to say her daughter is getting married and she wants the bridesmaids' to dress and have photos in her dining room ... and it needs updating!

Just a little look at where we started ....

And how it looks today ... just as happy as the amazing smile of a Father as he beams with love at the first sight of his daughter in her wedding dress!

New drapes, new chandelier, new fabric on the dining chairs ... lightening up the mood!

Oh ... and they needed a few added dining chairs ... and I happened to find these at an estate sale ... a little serendipity never hurts the cause!  I found 4 and while they were a different height than their chairs, they had the same top treatment.  Matching fabric upholstery and their new set feels wonderful and updated!

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Dining Room Progress.

Sometimes I feel like the Cobbler.  I am so busy designing and decorating others' homes and I forget ... or truthfully, put off because I cannot make up my mind ... the finishing of my own home.

This past week I made HUGE progress in my Dining Room.  HUGE? You ask ... yes.  I chose a chandelier.  Now you have to understand that this has truly taken me two years.

And then, the Deal Breaker.  Every year our neighborhood has a Progressive Dinner to kick off the holiday season.  First Weekend in November.  Always.  And I was prepared to take some apps and a bottle or two of wine.  And I got the call.

Kim, can you host 10 at your house?  WHAAAAAT??

Yup.  this is her ... Don's office and our perfectly good fan.  Yup.

Now I got this call a week before the dinner.  I immediately texted my favorite electrician.  HELP!!!  I need you this Friday to install a chandelier, can you come?

CRICKETS.  NO ANSWER.  Did I mention he WAS my favorite electrician???  And by the way I didn't even HAVE a chandelier.

So at 5 pm Friday night when I finally had the chandelier in my hands,  I reached out to a recommended electrician.  He and I texted back and forth for about 2 hours.  We were both having cocktails and really not paying attention to one another, but I needed him and he is just that responsible!

Saturday morning, he arrives at 10 am ... I am cleaning around him ... and he is wondering why on earth he accepted this job!

But boy am I glad he did ... party went off without a hitch and I marveled over my chandelier all night ... and truthfully ... still feeling pretty good about the whole thing!

Sometimes you just need a big PUSH!  Did I mention I have a NEW favorite electrician?

Um Hmmm.

Happy Week my friends ... now back out the door to get everyone else's home in order!
