Week Three. ORC Spring 2017.

Welcome back to the One Room Challenge Link Up, Week 3.  Yes, the half way point, that really is more than half way because Week 6 means you get to see final photos.  It is kind of a head fake to call it six weeks!!  Right Linda ??  Thankfully, Linda realizes that we all need a good push to get things going.  She created this 6 weeks of craziness just for us.  She is crazy loyal like that!

For those that have no idea what the ORC is ... it is a challenge to complete one room in 6 weeks.  And it's like going to the gym.  If you are on your own you can kind of fake it.  But if you link up with this crowd you have no choice but to finish! I do love the ORC for many reasons, but the main one is that I am so busy working on other people's homes that mine seems to get pushed aside.  The ORC kicks me into gear and I cannot use excuses like ... "Well, I haven't found the perfect piece yet" or "I am going to work on it next week" ... because that NEVER happens!!

So back to Week Three ... here's progress!

Please take a moment to fully enjoy my new corner!!  Root Cellar Designs Wallpaper and Sherwin Williams "Natural Choice" for the walls ... Naturally!

I am happy to report that things are moving forward and it is a good thing, because I leave for HighPoint Market tomorrow and won't be returning until next Tuesday.  6 days of a big fat nothing going on here and that has me a little antsy!  If you need to catch up here is my inspiration Week One and my Plan at Week Two.

And yes, do you remember this window of mine from Old House Parts in Kennebunk Maine?  You can re-acquaint yourself here!

The window is the perfect accent for the wallpaper and another added layer with the gold and grey heron print.  I am more than thrilled that this room has plantation shutters.  Drapes would be dynamite, but I don't want to invest that kind of money in a rental.  The beauty of window treatments is that it warms a space up.  Since I won't have window treatments, the layering on this focal wall is even more important to warm up the space and give it some depth.

And then these chairs.  We have had them in the natural state for far too long.  They are about to get a good dose of Sherwin Williams "Iron Ore" to pull out the backdrop of the wallpaper and be a nice pop of color off the farm table.

And then the knobs on my mirrored console, one broke.

So I ordered these, from Wayfair.

Please follow along all the fun and excitement going on in the ORC LinkUp and the Official One Room Challenge.  The talent is amazing and fun and creative and inspiring!  All rolled into one!

I am headed to High Point tomorrow and will probably see a thousand things I think will be perfect in my Dining Room.  But I will have to be pinching myself as a reminder that this is indeed a Challenge.  With #KMIProjectRental this is not about a life commitment!!

Week Two. ORC Spring 2017.

Thank you for coming back!  Yes, this is Week Two of the #oneroomchallenge #orclinkup and I am in the midst of transforming our dining room.  From blah to extraordinary with everything I already have.  Except the Wallpaper. EEEK!  Oh Yes, in just six weeks!  Thanks to Linda of Calling It Home, there are room transformations taking place across the globe right now!

Let's break the Board Down:

My Jump Off ... or Jump Up and Down! starting point is this FABULOUS wallpaper by RootCellarDesigns.

This has been the biggest restraint ever.  To virtually transform our home into our vibe with nothing but paint.  I will continue to update you on the entire project.  But the Dining Room took a front seat so that I could have the place looking a little more spiffy for Easter!  And a girl just needs some wallpaper sometimes.  Just a Wall.  It just takes a Wall. Okay, not THAT wall!!!

I realize this weekend is Easter and I am far from ready, but I will show my family the mood boards.  And while we are eating my Mother In Law's addictive deviled eggs they will be able to truly see my vision!!

Farm Table - buy something you love.  This table has been in our dining room, our kitchen, the potting shed ... and back to the Dining Room!

Mirrored console.  Back when I wanted a little more Glam in my life.  This sparkler continues to make me happy.  But it needs new hardware.  One of the pulls broke, so I will be replacing those.

The "Winners" ... the Aidan Gray Chairs and chandelier!  I had my luckiest "win" moment two years ago and won these at HighPoint Market!

Heron Art.  I love this piece!  A fun find at an Estate Sale.

Garden Urn and Greenery.  NOT decided on wholly.  But I like the pop of green and iron in the space.  And I have no current yard to place them in ... so bringing the feel inside is terrifically appealing.

Zebra Print Cowhide:  I like it and own it.  Should it stay or should it go now? Stay tuned!

Yes, Black Sails  is  still on my mind as I try to make #KMIProjectRental feel like home.  Bringing in the rustic elements and shiny moments of our past to create something fun and fresh for our new adventure.

Be sure to hop over to Calling it Home to check out the 20 sponsored bloggers and here for us crazies that Link Up.  It will be life changing!

Week One. ORC Spring 2017.

I believe in the story.  When I am working with clients I always encourage them to identify how they see themselves living in a space.  Their Story.  That is an extremely important step in helping me create something that will truly resonate with them and be a space that they love forever.

Those that follow along my blog, know that we are in a Rental.  Okay ... so we are in transition, but I am in my dream state right now.  A Circa 1619 and Circa 1750 house all in one.  It has several lives.  You can read more about that here.

So let me introduce you to my Story ... Don (my husband) and I are big fans of Black Sails on Netflix.  I have always loved a good Skull and Crossbone and I kind of have a thing for Pirates. And, um, once you get over looking at him, you notice the background.  What I have loved about this show is the play between rough and grungy, with a wonderful patina as a backdrop. Whether that patina truly grew from something fine or not, you can see, feel and sense the layering of collections that have been acquired.  Inheritance or plunder ...  the history is there and I love it.

Here's another shot for you wallpaper fanatics! Clearly even Pirates like a good stage! And if you recognize Jack, he likes a good trim as well!

For the past month, I have been on a "paint campaign" in our rental to make it feel like home.  I have one room in this house that I wanted a little more from, Our Dining Room.  It is pretty up close and personal in this house, not a side room that no one sees and I need a space to create. So this is it.  And thank you Linda for giving me the push I need to make it happen.  We really have no idea how long we'll be here, but at this point we know we will be here for two years.  Yes, that will fly by, but I want to love every minute here ... so here goes!

The beginning ...

Yes, my friends this is the Spring Round of the  One Room Challenge and One Room Challenge Link Up ... where anyone can jump in the fun!  Follow along as I (and hundreds more) work to transform a room in 6 weeks.  It is a feat worth watching!  And quite an inspiring push if you are wavering on a project!

Here's what it looked like when the movers left.  And here's what needs to be done:

*New Chandelier

*Get farm table in (existing)

*Chairs need some help

*Wallpaper ... EEEKK!  My favorite part!  Only one wall!

All of this will be done with things we have collected over the years, the only "new" piece of the puzzle is a beautiful wallpaper.  I will share that with you next week!!

Hope you are having fun surfing through all the amazing designs going on over the next 5 weeks!
